Howdy folks! Jus got back from a wild ride out in them Guadalupe Mountains National Park, way out yonder west Texas—ain’t nothin flat ’bout it, y’all.

We hiked up Guadalupe Peak (yessir, highest point in the whole dang state), bout wore out my boots and near lost my hat in that wind. If you ain’t sweatin by mile 2, you probly forgot your water.

Campsites at Pine Springs filled up right quick, so I just rolled out my bedroll under the stars, coyotes singin lullabies. Bring a flashlight, bugs is thick!

Best sunrise I ever seen—sky on fire, mountain turnin all kinds of colors. Pro tip: don’t trust your phone GPS, mine wanted to send me back to El Paso mid-hike.

What all y’all bring for lunch? I stick with beef jerky, but open for ideas. Anyone see them elusive mountain lions? My buddy swears he heard one.

If you get a chance, hike Devil’s Hall. Kinda rocky, but them slot canyons is worth it.

p.s. my cooler melted. True story.

Ain’t nothin like cookin up some beans an bacon at that Dog Canyon camp, let me tell ya. Got woke up by a javelina rootin ’round my tent, nearly spilled my coffee.

Ya gotta bring extra socks, them rocks’ll eat through the thin ones.

Best trail for wildflowers is McKittrick Canyon in the spring. Bring yer camera!

So howdy, anybody ever make it up Hunter Peak? That wind’ll near knock your hat clear off your noggin.

We seen a tarantula crossin the trail—no joke, big as my fist.

Any good fishing spots in the park or is it too dry?

Watch for rattlers on the trail (my cousin nearly stepped on one, yikes).

Forgot my sunscreen, paid the price.

Gas up before you hit the park, nearest pump’s a LONG ways off.

My uncle Ray tried campin in the back of his pickup near Salt Basin. Woke up with a scorpion in his boot and a sunburn that lasted a week.

The view up top’ll make ya forget the pain in your knees (for a minute anyway).

Can y’all believe there’s folks who’ve never seen a roadrunner in the wild?

If you see the park ranger with the huge hat, tell him hi from the Crawlers.
