If you never got lost out at Joshua Tree you aint done it right. Came in late Friday, sky already going purple, boulders like giants frozen in the sand.
Ate bad gas station tacos, hiked up to Skull Rock, took more wrong turns than right but somehow always ended up back at my car.
Stayed up all night to watch the Perseids—star show was insane, woke up with a sunburn and a head full of questions.

Tips: Sunscreen, lots. Water, more than you think. Listen for owls. And bring a cheap guitar, nobody cares if you can play.

Slept out under the stars last May, woke up to a coyote nosing through my backpack. Lost my granola bar but gained a story I tell at every party.
Did you see the crazy clouds at sunset? Looked like UFOs.

You can hear a band playing U2 covers in the campground every dang weekend.
Still can’t find any actual joshua trees named Joshua. False advertising.

I always come for the rocks, stay for the quiet.
stars here got more personality than most folks i meet in LA
tried meditating by arch rock, ended up napping instead
if you ever see the wildflowers in the spring you’ll know why people fall in love with this place
highly recommend visiting midweek, less crowds, more coyotes
